GAME OVER?

Today we continued our ride south through the Norwegian interior. We have now reached roughly the latitude of Oslo, and the weather has changed noticeably. With temperatures reaching 28°C and plenty of sunshine, it felt like summer had finally arrived.

Our route took us across several mountain plateaus, climbing to 1,394 meters above sea level. And yes, even in the middle of summer there is still snow up there. It’s quite a sight when you’re riding in warm sunshine only a little farther down the road.

The roads were exactly what every motorcyclist dreams of: endless curves, hardly any traffic, and perfect asphalt. This is exactly how we imagined riding through Norway.

Everything was going perfectly—until about 2:00 p.m.

As I pulled the clutch to shift gears, there was suddenly no resistance at all. The clutch cable had snapped. Somehow, I managed to find neutral and rolled the bike safely onto the roadside.

Game Over?

Of course not.

A spare clutch cable is part of our travel kit for exactly this reason. We unpacked the tools, installed the new cable, and after just ten minutes, we were back on the road. Once again, carrying spare parts and tools proved to be well worth the extra weight.

Despite the unexpected stop, we still covered 390 kilometers today.

For the night, we rented a cabin at Rjukan Caravanpark. Before checking in, we stopped at a 24-hour SPAR supermarket, which works without any staff. You simply swipe your credit card at the entrance, the door unlocks automatically, you scan your own groceries, pay at the self-checkout, and leave. No employees, no waiting—just a system based entirely on trust.

Tomorrow we continue our journey further south.
