Today we left the Baltic coast behind and headed back into the Swedish interior. Our destination for the day was the area around Östersund.
Compared to the previous days, the roads were a little less twisty. The weather, however, kept changing between dry conditions and light rain. We never really got wet, though. In fact, I put on my rain gear twice during the day, only to realize shortly afterward that it probably wasn’t necessary at all.
Along the way, we passed several impressive lakes, which seem to appear around every corner in this part of Sweden. The landscape is also starting to change, slowly but noticeably. The forests are becoming wilder, the roads more remote, and the scenery feels a little rougher and more rugged. Somehow, you can tell that Norway is getting closer. It almost feels like Norway is already in the air.
By the end of the day, we reached Ristafallet Camping, where we rented a small cabin for the night. Right next to the campsite is the famous Ristafallet Waterfall, whose powerful flow and constant roar make it a truly impressive sight.
Today’s ride covered a total of 354 kilometers. After spending so many days on Swedish roads, it feels a little strange that this is already our last night in Sweden.
Tomorrow we will cross the border into Norway. And honestly, we’re not only looking forward to the mountains and fjords. We’re also looking forward to those typically Norwegian parking areas with benches. Anyone who has traveled there by motorcycle will understand how much you can appreciate such small comforts during a long journey.
Tomorrow, the Norwegian part of our adventure begins.
