Today we made another significant step towards the northeast, covering more than 400 kilometers through the Swedish countryside. Every kilometer was a pleasure to ride.
Our route took us through the heart of Sweden’s inland region, winding past countless forests, small lakes, and endless curves. Traffic is almost non-existent out here. At times, seeing three cars in an hour feels like heavy traffic.
The roads are incredible. It feels as if someone built a giant roller coaster through the forest. Constantly turning left and right, climbing hills and dropping into valleys, they offer exactly the kind of riding motorcyclists dream about.
At some point during the day, we suddenly realized it was Sunday. Naturally, the question arose: where could we still buy food? We asked at a gas station and received a very relaxed answer: “No problem, there’s always something open somewhere.”
And they were right. We soon found a large supermarket where we stocked up on food for the road as well as supplies for the evening. A great relief.
Of course, no riding day would be complete without our traditional snack break. Today’s version featured a Rocky on the Rocks — and what better place to enjoy it than sitting on a small rock somewhere in the Swedish wilderness?
Once again, the NorCamp app helped us find a place to stay. This time we discovered Risebo Riding Farm, where we rented a cozy little cabin for the night. A peaceful location surrounded by nature and exactly what we needed after another long day in the saddle.
As I am writing this blog post, Matthias is preparing dinner. By now, it has become part of our daily routine.
Tomorrow we will continue further towards the northeast. The roads are not getting any busier, the forests are not getting any smaller, and our excitement for the days ahead remains as strong as ever.
