Odins Gates!

With driving rain, cutting winds, roaring rivers, and a rugged, almost untamed landscape, Odin opened the gates to his realm today.

Centuries ago, the Vikings worshipped the old Norse gods, with Odin as their Allfather. As Scandinavia gradually became Christian, the old faith slowly disappeared—often not without resistance. Yet standing among these mountains, rivers, and waterfalls, it is easy to believe that the old legends are still alive.

We come in peace, riding our iron horses. We seek neither conquest nor glory. We have come simply to experience this magnificent land. May Odin watch over our journey and grant us safe passage through his mountains, valleys, and fjords.

Before crossing into Norway, we stopped to visit Sweden’s largest waterfall. It was truly impressive—but only until we crossed the border. The Norwegian landscape quickly stole the show. Everything feels wilder, rougher, and even more spectacular.

One of today’s highlights was spotting a female moose with two calves. We had no idea that moose could have twins. Unfortunately, the little family had no interest in posing for a photograph and disappeared back into the forest almost immediately.

The weather also reminded us that we had finally reached the far north. Temperatures ranged between 7 and 14°C, and summer suddenly felt very far away. Up here, true darkness lasts only about three hours, from midnight until around 3 a.m.

Tonight we’re staying in a very simple cabin on a campsite in Kvanne. Everything was booked online, and a door code gave us access to the key box. As far as we can tell, we’re the only guests here. Behind the cabin, a river rushes past—sometimes, that’s all you need.

We have now reached the northernmost point of our journey. From tomorrow on, we begin our ride slowly back towards the south.
