The KTM 950 Super Enduro took me all the way to the North Cape in 2014. It was a 2007 model.
However, the trip started with problems right away: on the very first day, the battery began to fail and had to be replaced in Kiel.
Later in Norway, the rear brake stopped working as well. A motorcycle workshop near Trondheim repaired it, but after only about 50 kilometers the brake failed again. For the rest of the trip, I rode using only the front brake. It was manageable, but on wet steel ferry decks it definitely felt uncomfortable.
To be fair, neither the battery nor the brake system were original KTM parts, so there is no criticism toward KTM itself.
The engine and gearbox, on the other hand, worked like clockwork. The V-twin engine always had a slight surging effect at constant speeds, but that was simply part of the bike’s character. After all, the 950 Super Enduro was never meant to be a comfortable adventure bike — it was built as a pure enduro machine.
During the entire trip, I also used an AirHawk air cushion because the original seat felt about as comfortable as a wooden plank.
One real highlight, however, was the Touratech luggage system. It was extremely robust, practical and performed flawlessly throughout the entire journey.
