This Harley Davidson Sportster XL1200C took me to Norway for the very first time in 2012. It was a 2000 model with around 22,000 kilometers on the clock back then.
The bike ran flawlessly throughout the entire journey without a single issue. The small 12-liter fuel tank was not always practical, but in the end it always made it to the next gas station.
With 1200 cc and only 58 horsepower, it was certainly not a powerful motorcycle by today’s standards — but that was exactly part of its character.
Luggage was not really a concern on this trip, since we still had a support vehicle with us in 2012.
To this day, I regret selling this motorcycle. This Sportster taught me that there is only one kind of motorcycle that can put a smile on your face even while riding straight roads for hours: a Harley Davidson.
