Our journey isn’t quite over yet, but this blog ends here.
Tomorrow we’ll ride just a few more hundred kilometers back home – and that’ll be it.
Today, we crossed Austria one last time and made it to Allershausen, just north of Munich.
There were some beautiful mountain roads along the way, with stunning Alpine views – a fitting finale.
The past two weeks were packed with impressions, encounters, curves, and unforgettable moments.
We truly enjoyed every bit of it.
Romania was the core of this journey – and honestly? Absolutely worth it.
A local once told us:
“You’re 50 years behind here.”
And in many ways, that’s true – but in the best possible sense:
- Cars that would’ve been scrapped back home are still running strong – and they smell like cars, not jacuzzis.
- Power lines run over rooftops, and the storks love it.
- Shops don’t stock everything, but they have what matters.
- And if something works, it’s used until it doesn’t – not just replaced for looks.
Here, people are defined by what they do, not what they have.
And that’s refreshing.
Every single person we met was kind, helpful, and genuine.
We had great weather, no breakdowns – and we’re heading home grateful and happy.
So we say:
Thanks for riding along, Drum Bun – and see you next time.
Because one thing’s for sure:
This isn’t goodbye – we’ll be back, no doubt about that!

We drove the following route over the past two days:
