We left the wild behind and dove straight back into the Carpathians – and once again, it was a symphony of twists and turns, breathtaking views, and constantly changing terrain. This ride just keeps surprising us.
At this point, even we can hardly believe how good this trip has been.
Today, the landscape changed once more: reservoirs, wild rivers, waterfalls – Romania gave us one final show of its natural beauty. And yes, we crossed the Transalpina Road one last time.
There we met plenty of fellow riders, gathering at scenic spots and mountain pull-offs. The sound of engines echoing through the mountains was incredible. Catalytic converters? Noise limits? No one cares here. It was pure joy watching other bikers ride – that shared spirit of the road.
By evening, we arrived near Reșița (Eisenmarkt) – likely our last stop in Romania. For €59, we booked a comfortable apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a terrace. We’re not heading back out tonight – the heat roasted us enough in the saddle.
Compared to yesterday’s rustic farm life, this is straight-up luxury – and just what we needed for the final stretch.
Tomorrow, we ride on to Hungary.
The journey home begins.
